On 4 and 5 October 2025, the team from Focus Point Alamanda Shopping Centre took part in a meaningful celebration with Jabatan Alam Sekitar (JAS) in honour of World Ozone Day 2025. The theme for this year, “From Science to Global Action,” reminds us that every small step we take can make a difference for our planet and our health.
The event was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, who reminded everyone that protecting the ozone layer is a shared global mission. The message of the day also connected closely with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), emphasizing that environmental protection and human health go hand in hand.

For Focus Point, this mission is close to our heart. The ozone layer does more than just protect the Earth, it also shields our eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays that can cause cataracts, corneal burns and other long-term vision problems. When we protect the ozone layer, we are also protecting our vision, one of the most precious gifts we have.
At our booth, visitors experienced interactive demonstrations and eye health education. They learned about UV protection eyewear, tested their sunglasses with a UV tester machine, and discovered how transition lenses respond to changing light for greater comfort.

Our beloved mascot Totti brought smiles and laughter as children learned the importance of caring for their eyes and their planet. Through play and curiosity, they discovered that small actions, when taken together, can lead to big impact.

As the event came to a close, one message stood out, safeguarding our health and the planet’s health are one and the same. At Focus Point, we will continue to champion awareness that supports both SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and our shared commitment to sustainability. Together, we can see clearly, live responsibly, and create a healthier future for all.
