A Meaningful Day of Giving Back
On 16 June 2025, we had the honour of participating in a deeply meaningful event, a vision screening initiative held in conjunction with the Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) ceremony at the Malacca International Trade Centre (MITC), Ayer Keroh. Organised in collaboration with Yayasan Veteran Angkatan Tentera Malaysia, a division under the Ministry of Defense, the event was specially dedicated to retired officers of the Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) who have served the country with pride and loyalty for decades.
Serving Those Who Once Served Us
Our presence at the event was not merely about conducting vision screenings. It was about honouring the legacy and sacrifice of those who once stood at the frontlines for our nation. These veterans devoted the best years of their lives to safeguarding Malaysia, often enduring difficult environments and demanding responsibilities. Today, we are privileged to care for their well-being in return, starting with something as fundamental as eye health.
Human Connections Behind Every Screening
With the enthusiastic support of our colleagues from Focus Point Mahkota Parade, Melaka, our booth was set up to provide comprehensive vision care services. Throughout the day, we welcomed many retired officers, and each interaction brought moments of heartfelt connection. As we checked their vision, we also listened to their stories, tales of courage, discipline, and duty. From border patrol missions to peacekeeping deployments abroad, their memories were filled with commitment and pride.
Many shared how, during their service years, eye care was often overlooked due to the nature of their work. Now, as they transition into retirement, maintaining their health, especially their eyesight, has become more important than ever. These stories reminded us that our work isn’t just about clearer vision, but about recognising the people behind the eyes.

A Visit That Reinforces Purpose
We were honoured to receive a visit from the Deputy Minister of Defense, who spent time at our booth and acknowledged the importance of the initiative. His presence added to the significance of the day and affirmed the shared responsibility we all hold in continuing to care for our national heroes beyond their years of service.

A Lasting Commitment to Community Care
This initiative was a powerful reminder that health care, particularly vision care is about more than just physical well-being. It is about empathy, connection, and gratitude. At Focus Point, we believe that every veteran deserves not only recognition, but also continued care and respect.
To every retired officer who visited us at MITC, thank you for sharing your time, your stories, and most importantly, your service to the country. We are truly honoured to serve you in return. This is not just a program. It is a commitment to continue caring for the community and ensuring no one is left behind when it comes to vision and wellness.
