Giving Back Through Vision Care This Wesak Day: Bringing Compassion into Clearer Focus

Compassion begins with the ability to see, not only with our eyes, but with our hearts.

In conjunction with the annual Wesak Day celebration at Kwan Inn Temple, Petaling Jaya, Focus Point proudly brought our FOCUS4Sight Community Vision initiative to the community on 31 May 2026, reaffirming our commitment to making quality eye care more accessible while embracing the values of kindness, service, and community spirit that define this meaningful occasion.

Wesak Day is a celebration of compassion and giving. Inspired by these values, we believe that one of the greatest gifts we can offer is the opportunity for someone to protect and preserve their sight, because better vision opens the door to greater independence, confidence, and a better quality of life.

Throughout the programme, 147 community members participated in comprehensive vision and health screenings powered by 360° Advanced Primary Eye Care (APEC) together with AirDoc AI retinal screening technology.

By combining professional eye care expertise with innovative technology, participants received personalised insights into their eye health, allowing potential vision issues to be identified at an early stage, often before noticeable symptoms appear.

For many, it was more than just a screening. It was an opportunity to better understand their eye health and take the first step towards lifelong vision care.

Good vision begins with awareness.

Beyond the screenings, our optometry professionals engaged with participants to raise awareness of common eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, dry eyes, and other vision-related concerns. Through these conversations, community members gained a better understanding of the importance of early detection, regular eye examinations, and timely intervention.

It was especially encouraging to witness so many individuals taking proactive steps towards safeguarding not only their eyesight but also their overall well-being. Every conversation, every screening, and every question asked reflected a growing awareness that preventive eye care matters.
